We are committed to making our science and research accessible and relevant to a broad community, including researchers, practitioners, and outdoor enthusiasts. This includes engaging with an active community of volunteers (“community scientists”) who contribute data about recreation on public lands through a program called Visitors Count!
We also belong to a vibrant community of practice which has formed around using data-driven tools and approaches to improve outdoor recreation opportunities. This is a diverse group that includes researchers, public land managers, data experts, and members from NGOs and the private sector.
