King County’s parks and trails are critical public assets that provide people with a variety of physical, social, and economic benefits. The purpose of this partnership was to develop, pilot-test, and deploy mixed-methods for overcoming limitations of traditional approaches for measuring park use and its societal benefits. The broad goals were to inform system maintenance and resource allocation decisions, strategies to promote equity throughout the system, strategies in broader County initiatives, internal Parks planning efforts, value of parks, and our understanding of environmental benefits of park ecosystems.
